How do I connect with God?
You could never do enough good or give enough to make God love you more than He does right now. On the flipside, there is nothing you have done that can make God’s love unavailable to you right now. It is free for anyone who chooses to believe that Jesus died to save them, and it is never too late.
The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
You become a believer by admitting you are not perfect and that you need the grace God made available to us through his son Jesus. The good news is that none of us are where we should be, but God loves us right where we are. What should I wear?
You’re already dressed. At PBCC we believe everyone matters to God, regardless of their choice in clothing. So don’t even worry about it, you’re already dressed.

How and when was PBCC started?
Our founding pastor, Dr. Raymond Underwood, and his wife, Jan, returned to South Florida in June of 1985. They began meeting weekly with six other families preparing for the launch of a new, innovative (or culturally relevant) community church. On October 6, 1985 they held their first services in the PGA Cinema VI in Loehman’s Plaza. The church’s style and use of the arts sparked an enthusiastic response in the community causing attendance to grow dramatically. After six years, the church outgrew this facility and moved to William T. Dwyer High School in December of 1991, and then into Palm Beach Community College’s Eissey Campus Theatre in July of 1994.
On December 26, 2001 PBCC purchased 47 acres on PGA Blvd. and named the project The Bruce E. Borland Center for Community Enrichment. The building is named in honor of Bruce Borland, the chairman of the Elders who was tragically taken in a plane accident on October 25, 1999. Our present first phase of 50,000 square feet was completed in March 2008 fulfilling the long awaited dream of a home for the PBCC family and a gathering place for the greater community.
What does non-denominational mean?
It means that we are not affiliated with a denomination, such as Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, etc. Everyone is welcome at PBCC. In organizing this church, our desire was to be an attractive environment for those who do not regularly attend church. We feel that denominational titles mean more to people who already attend church than people who don’t. We have discovered that there are more disadvantages to a denominational title than there are advantages. To find out more, scroll to the “What do you believe?” question below, or go to About Us.
What do you believe?
Our Mission:
Inspire people to actively love Christ and their community.
Our Vision:
Palm Beach Community Church is a place where people experience the love of Christ and it compels them to live an authentic life of faith. Many who gave up on church because of a bad experience return to find genuine acceptance rather than judgement.
It is a place where biblical teaching is relevant to life and worship stems from a deep gratitude and passion to know and love God. Groups of people meet in their homes during the week to study the Bible and find ways to serve others. People are challenged and inspired to grow through their pain, doubts, hangups, and triumphs.
It is a place where families find encouragement and support that equips them for the storms of life. Marriages are strengthened, and the divorce rate in Palm Beach County begins to decline.
It is a place where the doors stay open for community enriching events all week long, not just on Sundays. Resources and facilities are shared for the good of the community and people work hand in hand with local non-profits to meet real needs in our city and in our world.
It is a place where respect and cooperation is fostered among community leaders, walls of negativity crumble, and locals begin to speak of church as a life-restoring necessity in this town.
New leaders rise up committed to honor God with their skills and gifts. Creativity thrives. Writers and musicians gather to create new worship songs, painters paint, actors act, and dancers dance.
We work together, pray together, laugh together, worship together, eat together, struggle together, and celebrate together the joy of an unselfish life as we live in the hope of Christ.
Our Values:
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?” Jesus replied, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ‘This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40
Loving God
Worship: Joining together in worship as a community is our response of gratitude to God and an important part of the intimate relationship He pursues with us.
Christ-likeness: We want to be more like Christ, supporting and challenging each other through Biblical teaching, life in small groups, and personal spiritual development.
Service: Because of the love and grace God has shown us, we willingly serve each other, our community, and the world.
Loving your neighbor
People: All people, believers and non-believers, matter to God and they matter to us. We strive to be servant-hearted people who reach out to our community and point people to Christ.
Authenticity: Our goal is to live and worship together in a community of openness, honesty, and integrity.
Developing Strong Families: Our families are the most important things in our lives next to God. We believe in helping each other develop strong families that are God-centered, healthy, and able to withstand the storms of life.
Our Beliefs:
About the Scriptures: We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.
About God: We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world.
About Mankind: We believe that mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort alone.
About Salvation: We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
About the Christian Life: We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
About the Church: We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the world.
How do I get involved?
Palm Beach Community Church is for those who want to connect with God for the first time as well as for committed believers. We invite you to grow spiritually by joining God on His “EPIC” Adventure.
Experience God
Sunday morning services are designed for you to experience God through relevant and engaging environments of music, video, and speaking. Just come as you are with your past, pain, challenges, hopes, and dreams. God promises to meet you where you are, but He won't leave you there. He begins a work of transformation in your life. We are about acceptance, compassion, and relevance to everyday life. We have no hidden agenda, but explore life issues from a biblical perspective.
Participate in Spiritual Growth
At PBCC we believe that in a Growth Group is where you will grow and learn the most. Being in a Growth Group is a great way for you to strengthen your relationship to God and others.
